What is truSculpt® iD?
truSculpt® iD is a non-invasive, monopolar radiofrequency (RF) device that is clinically proven to provide an average of 24% fat reduction while tightening the skin in one 15-minute treatment.
truSculpting falls under the radiofrequency category of body sculpting methods. Using monopolar radiofrequency, it heats up and eliminates a patient’s fat cells through their water content. Completely hands-off, the energy waves are applied with an applicator to specific and targeted areas that have excess fat. According to the creators of the TruSculpt® technology, patients have 24% fat reduction after their first treatment. Full results will occur after 12 weeks post-procedure.
truSculpt relies on radiofrequency energy, making it much safer than other body sculpting procedures that use laser energy or cold. The radiofrequency energy penetrates through the skin and fat tissues to the muscles beneath. It will also eliminate the fat cells faster than other options, allowing patients to see results faster.
What can I expect during the truSculpt® iD session?
First, you will be seen for a free consultation with one of our providers. Most often the consultation and treatment for truSculpt® iD will take place on the same day. Your consultation consists of a medical evaluation to make sure truSculpt® iD is safe for you and pre-treatment photos. truSculpt® iD is a very safe procedure for a majority of patients, but those who are pregnant or have pacemakers, defibrillators, metal implants in the treatment area, or other health concerns such as a recent surgery in the treatment area or an active unrepaired abdominal hernia will be excluded from the procedure.
After determining that you are a candidate, the treatment area will be cleansed and marked for appropriate pad placement. Treatment pads will be placed over the chosen areas and the treatment will be started. truSculpt® iD will then deliver radiofrequency energy. This energy heats and destroys fat cells, which are then metabolized naturally and safely by the body over time. You will feel some heat from the treatment pads throughout the process, but this should be comfortable and bearable. The truSculpt® iD procedure only takes about 15 minutes per treatment area. At the end of your treatment, the pads will be removed and your skin will be cleansed again and if needed, a cool hand-held roller will be applied to stimulate the fat removal process for a few minutes.
Are the results from the truSculpt® iD permanent?
truSculpt® iD uses innovative monopolar radio frequency (RF) technology to selectively target fat and therapeutically heat it until fat cells are slowly, and permanently removed and excreted through the body naturally over a 12-week period.
Because the fat cells that remain in your body will still be capable of growing, it means that you can still gain weight in the future. To best maintain your results, you’ll want to adhere to a healthy lifestyle. For many patients, the great results they get from truSculpt® iD are a powerful incentive for staying in shape.
How many treatments will I need to do for the iD?
Most patients will need 1-2 treatments within the area to be treated depending on desired results.
Does truSculpt® iD reduce the appearance of cellulite?
Yes, it can! truSculpt® iD uses radiofrequency energy for deep tissue heating that promotes the non-invasive removal of fat and the tightening of the overlying skin. This skin tightening effect can also improve the appearance of cellulite.
How fast will I see results from the truSculpt® iD?
Patients can expect to see up to 24% fat reduction in the treated area with each session (if diet and exercise are maintained or improved). truSculpt® iD results are most often visible 6-12 weeks after the treatment.
What are some side effects after the truSculpt® iD treatment?
Typically, there is no downtime after the treatment though patients may experience mild discomfort. Some common side effects can include redness and mild tenderness in the treated areas. Usually, these side effects resolve within a few hours.
How long is the truSculpt® iD treatment?
The procedure time depends on the size and number of treatment areas. Each area takes 15 minutes to treat. More than one area can be treated in the same visit.
Are these treatments FDA approved?
truSculpt® iD is 510(k) cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for non-surgical fat-reduction and circumferential reduction procedures.
